5/28/09 - As reported by Madison Police Department

WEST - 7952 Tree Lane (Rocky Rococo) - Attempted Armed Robbery - 2009-153027

Suspect entered an office of the business wearing a mask and armed with what turned out to be a facsimile firearm, pointing it in the face of the manager and demanded that she open the safe. The manager feigned not knowing the combination and was engaged  in a phone conversation  with an out of state vendor while the robbery was in progress. After she told Suspect she was on the phone with the police, he fled the office and while in the process of fleeing he removed the mask, revealing himself to the manager. He then jumped into a vehicle awaiting in the lot and fled the area. Witnesses gave a description of the vehicle that was then spotted by a Dane County Sheriff's Deputy on S. High Point Road and Watts. When the deputy effected the traffic stop, Suspect bailed from the vehicle and fled in wooded area behind the Bishop O' Connor Center. The vehicle was being operated by the suspect's sister.  The fake gun and red shirt worn during the robbery were also in the vehicle.

A perimeter was set up and Canine Johnny was brought in and located the suspect. He was taken into custody without incident. Great work by all of the officers involved and Johnny! Investigation is continuing.
